I grew up in NJ and took my driver's exam there, and I know for a fact that it is NJ law that a driver making a left turn must stay in the left lane, just as a driver making a right must stay in the right lane. Granted, this is NJ law and not GA, but that was the test that I took and that is all I have to go by. That said, it is obviously safer to complete a turn in that fashion. Any lawyer that would try to argue that it is not dangerous for a driver to make a left hand turn and cross over several lanes of traffic and enter the right lane should have his license revoked. I applaud the officer for making that arrest and hope that his fellow Georgia officers will continue to cite drivers who make such a dangerous move.
